A Word Before...
This site is the result of my passion for collecting old hard disc drives. Most of the ones I talk about, are hardly ever seen these days in working machines. They could be found as collector items or forgotten in old computers lost in various basements.
The information within these pages is based only on my remarks regarding particular disc drives. By today's standards, it could well be considered obsolete. But back in the year 2000, when I started this site, I couldn't find very much about the drives I was collecting. Technical literature existed but it was not targetable on the Internet. Or at least I didn't knew how to find it. What little I could find, was not very accurate either. Not that what I wrote is. But I think it successfully complements other stuff you can find these days on the Internet. So please take everything I wrote as-is. And do remember, this is not official information.
So you should treat this site as a historical time capsule. Starting with 2014, I have updated and corrected most of the content in these pages. I have also started adding fresh information about new drives in my collection.
If you are wondering about the functional status of my disc collection, some of them are in good working condition, others are broken. Some of them I have already sold or traded, and some of them I will keep forever. So now you know it, my collection is dynamic.

Tip: This site is best viewed at a screen resolution of 1024x768px. In case you wonder, the pictures were taken with one or more of the following digital cameras: Mercury SlimCam II, Sony DSC-S60, Canon A4000 IS, Olympus E-PL3. This is why quality varies a lot. Most of the pictures are taken more than 15 years ago. I'm sorry but that is what I had available at the time.
Thank you for spending your time reading these pages.
